Smart Homes on Long Beach Island, NJ

Eighteen miles of island, one bridge, and a lot of empty weeks.

Eighteen miles of island, one bridge, and a lot of empty weeks.

A glass house behind dune grass

We come up from Mays Landing and cross the Causeway into Ship Bottom. One trip usually covers the walk-through, wherever the house sits on the island.

Works with Lutron, Sonos, ecobee, Yale, Hunter Douglas, Apple, UniFi, and Home Assistant. We pick what fits the house, not a quota.

One island, one bridge

Every trip on and off Long Beach Island goes over the Causeway into Ship Bottom. That's why the island plan starts with checking the house from wherever you are. From your phone you can see whether the doors are locked, what each thermostat is holding, whether a leak sensor has tripped, and what the hardwired cameras see. Alerts come to you. This is self-monitoring, not a central station.

Island towns we work in

Beach Haven at the south end, Ship Bottom at the foot of the Causeway, Surf City mid-island, Harvey Cedars where the island narrows, and Loveladies on the north end each have their own page. The houses are different, and so are the plans. A Saturday rental in Beach Haven needs different things than a big glass house in Loveladies.

Storms and empty weeks

When a storm is coming, a storm scene can close the motorized shades, set the climate, and leave the outdoor lights on a schedule. Leak sensors under sinks and by the water heater alert your phone. When there's room, the network and control gear goes in a ventilated closet above the ground floor. That's planning where the equipment goes, not a flood study.

In Long Beach Island

  • One bridge on and off the island, so you should be able to check the house before you make the drive.
  • Ocean-side and bay-side houses take wind and sun differently, and the shades are planned for which side you're on.
  • Rentals and family weeks change hands on Saturdays. Door codes and Wi-Fi should handle the turnover without you.

What we put in the house

Remote checks and climate come first on the island, because the drive back is long. Lighting, shades, and Wi-Fi follow.

Questions about Long Beach Island

Do you work on Long Beach Island?
Yes. We drive up from Mays Landing and cover the island from Barnegat Light to Holgate, including Beach Haven, Ship Bottom, Surf City, Harvey Cedars, and Loveladies. Call (609) 415-0011, Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, to set up a free walk-through.
Can I check my LBI house from the mainland?
Yes, as long as the house has internet. Door status, thermostats, leak sensors, and hardwired cameras show on your phone, and alerts come to you. It's self-monitoring, not a central station.
Are the cameras battery powered?
No. Every camera we install is hardwired, so it keeps recording through the off-season without anyone changing batteries.
What happens if the island loses internet?
The keypads and wall panel keep running scenes inside the house. You lose access from your phone until the connection comes back, but the house keeps working.
Do you publish prices for LBI houses?
No. Each house is quoted after a free walk-through, because the rooms, the glass, and the wiring are different in every house.
